About the Role:
The Field Political Analyst will play a crucial role in providing real-time political intelligence and qualitative inputs from the ground. The role requires rigorous fieldwork, local media monitoring, and assisting in data collection and translation to support strategic decision-making.
The candidate must have a deep understanding of local political dynamics and constituency-level issues while maintaining an unbiased and neutral approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Qualitative Research & Fieldwork:
Conducting extensive field visits, FGDs, IDIs and developing a detailed sub-assembly level understanding. Providing real-time feedback on on-ground political developments, party activities, and local issues. Identifying emerging political trends and potential escalations in the constituency.
Monitoring local media coverage to assess political narratives and stakeholder sentiments
Data Collection & Analytical Support:
Sourcing past electoral results, caste equations, and voting trends in the constituency.
Assisting in data collection, manual data entry, and cleaning tasks to ensure accuracy.
Translating local inputs and reports from Bengali to English or Hindi, as required.
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination:
Facilitating contact-building for Assembly In-Charges (AICs) and Zone In-Charges (ZICs).
Helping in identifying key influencers, grassroots leaders, and community stakeholders.
Coordinating with local sources and field teams to ensure timely information flow.
Skill set Requirements:
The candidate should be a local of the region.
The candidate should have a good political knowledge and understanding of West Bengal.
The candidate must have good networking skills and experience in doing on-ground liaisoning and/or survey work for NGOs or similar organizations will be an added benefit.
The candidates must have a graduate degree qualification from a reputed university in West Bengal.
The candidate should preferably have a laptop (smart phone would be a must) and have working-level knowledge of basic IT applications like MS Office and Google spreadsheets.
The candidate should be alert and diligent in following processes and timely reporting.
The candidate should be open to challenging working hours (6-7 days of working in a week).
The candidate should be comfortable in extensive traveling and must own a two-wheeler (or any other transport vehicle).
The candidate should be proficient in Bengali (read, write, and speak) and have a basic understanding of English.
